Where is the brush actually made?
The Calcutta and Tibet brushes are both made in the Black Forest of Germany, in a high quality shop that has been crafting brushes for more than 3 generations. The brush is then sent to our facility in Idaho, USA where final processing takes place.
-
What if my hair is thick? Can I still use this brush?
If your hair is thick and you still prefer to use one of these brushes, we recommend the Calcutta and brushing your hair in sections. We also offer the Calcutta MAX boar bristle brush that is made for thick hair. Please see the chart below.
-
Can I use this brush on wet hair?
Wet hair is fragile, and the boar bristles naturally grip hair to distribute the oils. It is best to use this brush on dry hair. For brushing wet hair, we recommend our Wood Bristle hair brush. Please see chart on this page for more info.
-
Can I use this brush in the shower?
Because the brush is wooden, it is best not to use in the shower. Extended exposure to water may damage to the wood.
DETAILS
- Tibet Boar Bristle - Medium stiff bristles from boars raised on the Tibet Plateau. Best for fine to medium thick hair.
- Calcutta boar Bristle - This brush has the Calcutta boar bristles, which are the stiffest bristles from boars raised in the highlands of India. Best for hair of medium thickness, or those who prefer a more rigid brush.
- SIZE - brush is 2" wide (brush area) x 8.75" (total length).
- WOOD HANDLE - made of genuine pear wood, which is a hard wood grown locally in Germany. The wood has an engraved image of the butterfly — a symbol of the gentle and transforming powers of nature.
- CARE - For best results, keep your brush free of loose hair by using a brush cleaner or a fine tooth comb. Wash the brush in lukewarm water mixed with a touch of shampoo. Do not leave the brush to soak. Rinse the brush in clear water, then dry handle with a soft cloth. Allow to finish drying at room temperature with bristles pointing downward. Proper care will prolong the life of your natural brush.
- NOTE - For penetration through thicker hair types, brushing hair in sections may be needed. The bristles of the Calcutta and Tibet brushes are tufted fairly close together for finer hair types, which may prevent penetration through thicker hair. For thicker hair types, we recommend our Calcutta MAX hair brush, which has extra thick, long bristles with wider spacing between tufts, or our new Combination Boar Bristle & Nylon Pin brush.
